Making Dementia Knowledge Affordable For All

Year 1 (2025-26)

by Stephanie Ann Scott

Alzheimer's Disease is a very costly disease, and very few have the resources to search out holistic treatments for dementia prevention and/or reversal. I would like to change that.

Making Dementia Knowledge Affordable For All

About This Idea

Create an online affordable treatment that includes both affordable lab work to diagnose a persons individual root causes of dementia, and free online training of how to implement a successful program

Where Did This Idea Spark at WMU?

My father has end stages Alzheimer's Disease

Impact in Kalamazoo

This would prevent and or reverse early stage mild cognitive impairment in local Michigan residents so that their condition does not progress to full blown Alzheimer's Disease.

How Investment Helps

It would require new affordable lab to help local residents diagnose root drivers of dementia, that does not break the bank, and is accessible by anyone without a doctor's prior approval. Similar to quest or lab corp., but more affordable. Then we would provide a free online training course to teach people what their lab results mean, and what they need to do to treat their mild cognitive impairment.

What I'll Do With the Money

Creating a new online website that provides free education: dementia prevention and reversal $20,000

Affordable targeted lab work to diagnose a person's main upstream driver's of dementia. $80,000

About the Founder

I am a 55 year old, non-traditional, counseling psychology graduate student at WMU.

Why? Half the population will have Dementia by 2060 if we do not create a solution. Currently 1 in 3 older adults have Alzheimer's Disease. The cost for labs and treatment is close to $15,000 for 6 months, and most people simply cannot afford that.
